We are proud to share some fantastic news from RFK Kitchens. Our CEO and Founder, Trevor Scott, has officially been admitted as one of four new Freemen of The Furniture Makers’ Company, the City of London livery company and charity for the furnishing industry.

The formal ceremony took place on 14th April, marking an important milestone not only for Trevor, but for RFK Kitchens as a whole.

A Prestigious Honour in the Industry

The Furniture Makers’ Company plays a vital role in supporting and promoting excellence across the UK furnishings sector. Becoming a Freeman is both a recognition of professional contribution and an opportunity to give back to the wider industry.

This appointment gives Trevor the chance to:

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the UK furniture industry
  • Support the company’s charitable initiatives
  • Access valuable industry knowledge and networks

Company Master Debbie Johnson commented:

“Each brings unique expertise and perspective, strengthening our community and supporting our mission to uphold excellence and sustainability within the furnishings industry.”

Supporting Craft, Charity and the Next Generation

Trevor was quick to highlight that this is about far more than recognition. It is about involvement.

“The Furniture Makers’ Company does an immense amount of work for charity, as well as supporting the Armed Forces and the RAF. They are heavily involved in the welfare of craftspeople within the industry,” he said.

He also noted the organisation’s close relationship with FIESTA, particularly in developing apprenticeships, CPD training and education.

“This is something I’m really keen to get involved with,” Trevor added.

Strengthening Industry Connections

The ceremony itself was held in the David Burbidge Room, a fitting setting given the strong links between The Furniture Makers’ Company and one of RFK Kitchens’ trusted partners, Burbidge.

David Burbidge and Ben Burbidge are both past Masters of the Company and, of course, the owners behind one of our key furniture brands, Kitchen Makers by Burbidge. It made the occasion feel even more connected to our day-to-day work and partnerships.

Looking Ahead

Trevor’s new role opens the door to deeper involvement within the industry and may even lead to becoming a Freeman of the City of London in the future.

For RFK Kitchens, it reflects our ongoing commitment not just to designing and delivering exceptional kitchens, but to supporting the people, skills and standards that shape the industry as a whole.

And if Trevor gets stuck with any ceremonial duties, we’re sure he’ll handle them with the same precision he brings to a kitchen design.
