Young professional couple with 1 child. They extended the back of the house to create a large family kitchen/dinner, wanted a kitchen with central island which had the wow factor with contrast and atmosphere, wanted reliable, good looking appliances, with easy to clean functions and steam assistance. Asked to hide everything behind closed doors, for a clean no nonsense kitchen nothing on display apart from a few well-chosen items.
Customer had an existing chimney breast which could not be knocked out, so I used it as the main focal point and placed the Neff 80cm flex induction hob (90cm would have been too wide) with the Neff integrated cooker hood and brick glass splash back to make good use the in the chimney and easy to clean and maintain. I made use of the corner space by designing a tall lemans corner unit, to maximize storage balance with the integrated 70/30 fridge freezer on the other side of the ovens. Finishing this off with a contrasting panel against the old Navy which offset the oak open shelving to give balance to the overall design. The oak theme was continued with the floating shelves and breakfast bar on the island. The dresser unit to the left of the chimney hides the and toaster and breakfast items! The customer chose a Quooker fusion tap to negate the use of a kettle thus keeping all the surfaces clear. Having to hide a floor mounted boiler and pipes in the window area, to work seamlessly with the rest of the kitchen but still allowing access for easy servicing and removal, so used panels instead of doors to get the correct width and height.
The design uses the Neff appliances as a central focal point to the kitchen. Not only being in the best functioning position for the island also as a visual point between the oak shelves and panel. The hob in neatly tucked into the chimney breast and not only offer protection but also a bit of old world charm with the glass brick splash back to tie in the old-style breakfast bar lighting. Bringing a great juxtaposition between high tech appliances and the age of the property.
